Francis Edwards, Antiquarian Bookseller, was established in 1855 in the West End of London. In 1912 it moved to occupy the first custom built bookshop in the world, at 83 Marylebone High Street ‘The most pleasantly designed bookshop anywhere’ (David Low ‘With all Faults’).

Now situated on the top floor of hcb the World Famous Hay Cinema Bookshop, Hay on Wye, Francis Edwards occupies four show rooms and has in stock over 7,000 Antiquarian and second hand volumes. Particular emphasis is on Voyages and Travel, Naval and Military, Natural History, Science and Medicine, Art and Architecture, History, Literature and Social Sciences. Francis Edwards issues regular Catalogues in all subjects.

At well as attending the major ABA Bookfairs at Olympia and Chelsea in London, Francis Edwards also attends Bookfairs in Europe and the US.

We are always willing to buy single books of importance, collections and entire libraries.

Francis Edwards is the antiquarian division of Hay Cinema Bookshop, the longest established of the Big Bookshops in Hay on Wye, and has in stock some 200,000 volumes on all subjects – from Art to Zoology – housed in the town’s old Cinema.
